Woman pleads guilty to knife attack on customers in Tustin laundry business – Orange County Register
SANTA ANA — A 26-year-old Tustin woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to a knife attack on three customers in a laundry business and was placed on 10 years of formal probation.
Camila Cynthia Machorro pleaded guilty to three counts each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and admitted sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victims, according to court records.
She accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Commissioner Jennifer Contini, who sentenced her to 10 years in prison, but suspended the sentence as long as she complies with the rules of the county’s “Whatever it Takes” court program, which aims to help defendants with mental health issues.
Machorro had 1,303 days of credit served while in custody since the April 11, 2019, attack on two women and a man at the laundry business, according to court records.
The defendant was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Big Joe’s Laundry at 14245 Red Hill Ave.
Callers reported at about 7 p.m. April 11, 2019, that a stabbing occurred near the business, Tustin police said at the time.
The victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries to the neck and head, police said.
Machorro had pleaded guilty in August 2016 to breaking into a 1980 Ford Mustang to steal something and was sentenced to 90 days in jail, according to court records.
