A look at what’s happening in Cleveland State Athletics…

Women’s Soccer
-Cleveland State will remain in non-league play this week, traveling to St. Francis on Thursday, September 1 and hosting Niagara on Sunday, September 4.
-Sunday’s game against Niagara will serve as Senior Day for the Vikings, as they will recognize their 10 seniors prior to the 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
-Last time out, the Vikings split their games, picking up a 5-0 win at Saint Joseph’s before falling to Pitt. 
-Mayra Sesmas added two more goals on the week, while Mollie McGuire recorded her first career shutout in goal.  

Men’s Soccer
-The Vikings will hit the road for two non-league games this week, facing UIC on Monday, August 29 and Army on Friday, September 2.
-Last week, Cleveland State opened its season with a 4-0 shutout against Canisius, with four different Vikings scoring in the contest. 
-Max Kasputis made his collegiate debut in goal and made a save in the victory. 

Volleyball
-Cleveland State will continue its preseason tournament schedule at the Lehigh Invitational this weekend, facing Lehigh and Rider on Friday, September 2 and Buffalo on Saturday, September 3.
-Last time out, the Vikings opened the 2022 campaign at the Buffalo Invitational. 
-Senior libero Audrey McConihe was named to the Buffalo Invite All-Tournament Team after averaging 4.86 digs per set on the weekend. 

Cross Country
-The Vikings will kickoff the 2022 campaign this week, participating in the Wooster Invitational on Thursday, September 1.
-The Wooster Invitational will be the first of seven scheduled meets for Cleveland State.
-The Vikings return eight runners from last season, including the senior duo of Hannah Korte and Emily Nemeth, while they welcome five newcomers to the lineup. 

Men’s Golf
-Cleveland State will open its fall slate this weekend, taking part in the Earl Yestingmeyer Invitational hosted by Ball State on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3.
-This weekend’s event will be the first of five fall events for the Vikings, including their home tournament – the Tom Tontimonia Invite.
-Cleveland State returns six letterwinners from last season, and will welcome two newcomers for the upcoming campaign.  

Viking of the Week Nominees
Max Kasputis, Men’s Soccer
Made his collegiate debut in goal against Canisius, recording the shutout win and making one save on the contest. 

Audrey McConihe, Volleyball
Earned a spot on the Buffalo Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 4.86 digs per set on the weekend. Notched three straight double-digit dig performances, including a career-high 37 digs against Xavier in the season opener. 

Mayra Sesmas, Women’s Soccer
Scored two goals in Cleveland State’s 5-0 victory over Saint Joseph’s, leading the team with three goals on the season.
