The Woodlands High School volleyball coach Terri Wade won her 500th career match Friday night when the Highlanders beat Willis 25-27, 25-12, 25-9, 25-23 in District 13-6A.

Wade came to The Woodlands in 2015 and has guided the Highlanders to 306 of those wins in eight seasons.

The Woodlands went to the state tournament under Wade’s watch in 2017. The Woodlands has made the regional tournament four times in eight seasons and the Highlanders have won five district titles.

Wade began her coaching career as a softball coach before moving on to Conroe to become an assistant.

In 2007, Wade took over at Montgomery High School and led the Bears to the regional tournament three times.

The Woodlands is currently ranked No. 12 this week in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Poll, and are 36-9 with a 15-1 record in District 13-6A.

Entering Tuesday’s bye, the Highlanders are a half-game ahead of Grand Oaks in the district standings. The Grizzlies play Cleveland on Tuesday and will likely tie The Woodlands for the district title with a win against the winless (in district play) Indians.

In the match against Willis on Friday, Wade coached against her former assistant Megan Storms, who came to Willis as her first head coaching job in 2017.
