Stephen Curry and Lebron James Career Comparison

Read Time:6 Minute, 28 Second

Stephen Curry, the point guard for the Golden State Warriors, is not the type to boast, but he holds himself in high regard for his offensive skills, even more so than four-time MVP LeBron James.

Curry and James’ careers have not exactly paralleled because they were selected six years apart, but they will always be linked by the tetralogy, a run of four straight NBA Finals in which Steph’s Warriors took on LeBron’s Cleveland Cavaliers

Both men are well into their 30s, yet neither has ever faced a more persistent and fascinating foe. This is why GiveMeSport has decided to compare the careers of both these legends.

Continue reading below for our Stephen Curry and Lebron James career comparison.

Stephen Curry Career

Stephen Curry, who is a professional basketball player from the United States, plays for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. He is recognized as the best shooter to ever play basketball by many experts.

The 3-point shot has become more common in basketball as the sport has changed. Because of his historically high amount of extraordinarily accurate shots, Steph Curry is credited with starting the NBA’s 3-point shooting revolution.

He was chosen by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, which was a crucial choice for the team. He would later develop into the greatest player in the history of the team, making him a household name in San Francisco.

Steph Curry has enjoyed a fantastic 12-year career while remaining devoted to the team that drafted him. With The Warriors, he earned his first MVP and Championship in 2015, which marked the start of his ascent.

He won the first-ever unanimous MVP award in 2016 after leading his club to the best regular-season record ever (73-9), surpassing the legendary 1996 Bulls Team. After the Warriors’ bitter loss to the Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals, they signed free agent Kevin Durant, which marked the beginning of the Warriors Dynasty.

Steph narrowly lost in 2019 to the Toronto Raptors after winning consecutive championships in 2017 and 2018. Steph will be eager to expand his collection of rings as he’s in the prime of his career.

Stephen Curry’s most memorable game

Curry scored 37 points in the Warriors’ 104-91 victory as they defeated the Cavaliers, breaking the series’ 2-2 draw between the teams in the 2015 NBA Finals. Curry added seven rebounds to his seven three-pointers. The Warriors went on to win the NBA title in Game 6.

Lebron James Career

Basketball player LeBron Raymone James Sr. plays for the LA Lakers in the NBA. He is referred to as “King James” and is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in history. Although basketball is his sport of choice, he is much more than a basketball player, as he is regarded as one of the world’s biggest icons.

One of the strongest NBA draft classes in league history was the one from 2003. The Cleveland Cavaliers made the first overall pick, selecting LeBron James. His first year in the league was a smashing success, giving the squad 18 more victories than the year before.

He ultimately took home the Rookie of the Year award, the first of a seemingly endless string of honours. 18 years and 3 clubs later, LeBron James’ brilliant career doesn’t appear to be coming to an end any time soon.

He made his professional debut with the Cleveland Cavaliers and then moved his skills to South Beach during the 2010 free agency season to play for the Miami Heat, where he played for four years and won numerous awards. After a tense finals matchup with the Golden State Warriors, he promised to bring a championship ring back to the Cavaliers in 2014 and did it in 2016.

He completed his transition to Hollywood by signing with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2018 free agency period. During his second tenure, he reached the finals every single season and an NBA-record eight times in a row, including during his time in Miami.

King James was the first player to win three Finals MVP awards with three different teams in 2020, and he also gave a championship ring to LA. He debunked the myth that he could only be successful in the Eastern Conference. Additionally, he competed for the USA Basketball Men’s Team in three Olympic Games (2004, 2008, and 2012), collecting two gold and one bronze.

Even though other games have been more successful, Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals will always stand out. James led the Cavaliers to a 93-89 victory that capped a 3-1 comeback for them with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, and the legendary block of Andre Iguodala. As a result, Golden State signed Kevin Durant for the upcoming campaign.

Lebron James vs Stephen Curry: Who is better?

LeBron James has a more impressive career overall and is a better all-around player. It is unparalleled what he accomplished as one of the most anticipated athletes ever and he did it without ever getting into trouble off the court.

With all eyes on him, he surpassed expectations as a role model with an almost perfect character. Considering how dominant he was on the court and how intelligent he was about the game of basketball, The King was already being compared to Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan in his first season.

Compared to Curry, James has won more MVP awards, Finals, All-Star teams, and other honours. LeBron has 18 All-Star Team appearances and 18 All-NBA Team choices, which is more than eight-time All-Star and All-NBA performer Curry.

LeBron has done and accomplished more than Curry, who is the best shooter we have ever seen. In reality, no player has achieved more individually than James, aside from Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

However, Curry transformed the game while playing for Golden State, and he has stayed a part of the team ever since. Curry earned the title of best point guard in the league; he did not come into the league with it. He averaged 17.5 points per game as a rookie, but by his third season, injury worries had many people writing him off.

He wouldn’t earn an MVP award or an NBA championship until 2015. Curry was aware that the Warriors offered him an opportunity, and he immensely honoured them by remaining loyal to them. Curry is the top shooter of all time, and his 43.3% from beyond the arc ranks 12th all-time.

Curry is the best free throw shooter of all time, surpassing Mark Price and Steve Nash. Curry is a fantastic shooter, but LeBron has higher overall numbers on both ends of the court as well as many more awards. It is simply difficult to argue against four MVPs, four Finals MVPs, and an astounding 18 All-Star and All-NBA appearances.

The best conclusion to draw about two players of this calibre may be that they are both exceptional players who are different from one another!
