Shooting range Eagle Sports Range in Cudahy will open in spring 2023

Eagle Sports Range in Cudahy is targeting a spring 2023 opening.
Owner/operator Omar Ahmad said supply chain issues have delayed some of the work on the shooting range at the former Blast Fitness building, 2525 E. Layton Ave.
But, he said, “it seems like we’re getting somewhat past all that.”
Cudahy officials granted final approvals for the project in May 2021.
Plans promise a 40-lane indoor shooting range out to 50 yards with the facility designed to allow competitive shooting. Classes, firearm rentals and sales will also be features of the new business.
In 2021, Ahmad said the range experience will be “a little more premium” than a typical range. Ahmad already operates a shooting range with the same name in Oak Forest, Illinois.

Construction was estimated to take up to eight months which, would have meant an early 2022 opening at the latest.
“Honestly it’s just all supply chain issues,” Ahmad said, adding that some contractors also were having issues finding enough employees.
Rumors of electrical issues with the building were not true, he said.
The conditional use permit, approved in April 2021, included some restrictions such as no outdoor shooting and no alcohol can be sold, dispensed or consumed on-site. The permit also limits hours of operation to between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week.
Ahmad said banners should start going up on the building in February 2023 with contact information and an exact opening date.
