One-on-one with NBC sports broadcaster Mike Tirico ahead of Bengals’ playoff game

THEY WERE TALKING WITH CHRIS COLLINSWORTH AND YOU TALK WITH HIS PARTNER IN CRIME. >> MIKE TIRICO, HE USED TO BE OURS AND HE IS FULL AND MIKE TIRICO, WITH CHRISSY A YEAR AGO FOR THE FIRST PLAYOFF GAME AGAINST THE RAIDERS WHEN THEY BROKE THE 31 YOUR PLAYOFF DROUGHT. WE TALKED ABOUT HOW FAR THIS TEAM HAS COME SINCE LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME. >> IT IS FUN TO SEE, THE BENGALS HAVE BECOME A TEAM THAT NATIONALLY PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN. JOE BURROW HAS BECOME A STAR, PEOPLE STOP AND WATCH. NOT JUST CINCINNATI OR IN OHIO, BUT NATIONALLY WORRIED TO GET TO A SUPER BOWL AND IT CHANGES THINGS. >> YOU GET TO WATCH HIM PLAY ON THE FIELD BUT YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO MEET HIM BEHIND THE SCENES AT SOME OF THESE MEETINGS, OVERALL THOUGHTS ON THE GUY OUT OF THE WAY THAT HE CARRIES HIMSELF ON AND OFF THE FIELD? >> HE IS SO CONSISTENT. WE WERE TALKING TO ZAC TAYLOR ABOUT THAT EXACT TOPIC. LOOK AT QUARTERBACKS AND TRY TO ASSESS SO MANY THINGS, ARM STRENGTH, ABILITY TO RUN, PROCESS FOOTBALL. THEN THERE IS THE INTANGIBLE LEADERSHIP YOU CAN NEVER QUANTIFY WHEN ASSESSING. YOU JUST WENT OUT ABOUT IT AS TIME GOES ON. WE HAVE SEEN JOE BURROW AS A LEADER AND A WILLING FACE OF THE FRANCHISE AND SOMEBODY WHO BECAUSE OF HIS ROOTS AND HIS TIES TO THE STATE REALLY HAS A CONNECTIVITY WITH THE PEOPLE. >> RAVENS AND BENGALS, NO LAMAR JACKSON, TOUGH DEFENSE, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS MATCH █UP, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE AREAS YOU ARE LOOKING AT AS FAR AS COULD DECIDE THE OUTCOME? >> THE INTIMATE BALANCE OF THE QUARTERBACK POSITION, UNANIMOUS M.V.P. OF THE LEAK IS OUT AND THE BIG ADVANTAGES CINCINNATI. WHAT MY COUNTER THAT MORE IN THIS GAME ARE TWO THINGS. THE RAVEN’S DEFENSE IS EXCELLENT AND BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT IS THE SECOND PART. THE FAMILIARITY. THERE IS NO HIDDEN SECRET ABOUT WHAT THE RAVENS LIKE TO DO OVER TIME OR WHAT THE BENGALS LIKE TO DO OVER TIME. EACH SIDE IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH DO I CHANGE? DO NOT GET AWAY FROM WHAT WE DO REALLY WELL. FOR THE BENGALS THAT WILL BE THROWING THE BALL AND FOR THE RAVENS IT IS DISRUPTING ROW. — JOE BURROW. THE RAVENS HAVE A WAY OF STAYING IN UGLY FOOTBALL GAMES UNLIKE ANY OTHER TEAM. >> YOU HAVE EXPECTATIONS IN THIS TOWN AND YOU LOOK AT THE LINEUP AND YOU MAY HAVE TO GET THROUGH THIS GAME AND PLAY BUFFALO ON THE ROAD AND BEAT KANSAS CITY. >> I DO NOT THINK THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF NATIONAL ATTENTION ON CINCINNATI. JOE BURROW BELONGS ON MY MBP BALLOT AND CHASE IS PLAYING GREAT ALL OF THOSE GUYS ARE AS GOOD AS THEY WERE ON DEFENSE AND THEY MAKE NOISE WHEN THEY NEED TO AND GET BASIC SECOND-HALF CURVEBALL THAT MOST TEAMS
