UConn Health’s Chief of Neurosurgery Dr. Ketan Bulsara is a newly named advisor to the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC).
The Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) have invited UConn Health’s Dr. Ketan Bulsara to serve as an advisor to its Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC).
The MEDCAC advises the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on whether specific medical items and services are reasonable and necessary under Medicare law. MEDCAC selects up to 100 experts in clinical and administrative medicine, biologic and physical sciences, public health administration, patient advocacy, health care data and information management and analysis, health care economics, and medical ethics to serve on the MEDCAC.
Bulsara, a world-renowned neurosurgeon has unparalleled expertise in treating neurological disorders. He is among an elite few neurosurgeons in the world with dedicated dual fellowship training in skull base/cerebrovascular microsurgery and endovascular neurosurgery. He offers specialized neurosurgery care for complex tumors, aneurysms, brain- or nerve-related problems, and a full spectrum of treatment of both hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke including advanced mechanical thrombectomy.
Nationally and internationally Bulsara has held numerous leadership positions in academic neurosurgery. He is a frequently invited national and international lecturer and a widely published author. In fact, he has published many national and international neurosurgery guidelines and standards focusing on outcomes and quality, has published three books, and more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.
