Mockler, Mills fill business office openings
VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota athletic director David Herbster is pleased to announce the hiring of Gina Mockler as the Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance and Madison Mills as the athletic department accounting assistant.
Mockler replaces Jeanette Hubert, who retires this summer after 19 years within the Coyote athletic department.
“I am thrilled to begin my new role in Coyote athletics,” said Mockler. “I have incredible memories during my time as a student-athlete at USD that stick with me to this day. Vermillion and the University of South Dakota quickly became home for me during my time on campus and now as an employee for the last 11 years. I’m excited to work with the staff and coaches to continue to make the Coyotes successful on and off the field. Thank you to David Herbster, President Sheila Gestring and the rest of the USD community for this amazing opportunity.”
Mockler has worked in various roles at the University, most recently in the campus budget office as the Senior Budget and Finance Specialist, since her graduation from USD in 2010. Mockler, a native of Mitchell, South Dakota, was a setter for the Coyote volleyball program for five years. She ranks fifth on USD’s career charts for total assists. She earned her undergraduate degree in accounting and her master’s in sport management from USD.
Mills returns to Vermillion from her current role as an operations advisor for Tesla in California. A native of Reno, Nevada, Mills competed as a pole vaulter for the Coyote track and field program for five seasons. Her indoor personal best of 13-11 ¼ (4.25m) remains ranked sixth in USD program history. She was a six-time all-Summit honoree in the pole vault. Mills completed her bachelor’s and master’s of business administration in 2017.
