HOBOKEN, N.J. (10/21/22) – Taylor Micheaux notched a career-high 18 kills as the Kean University women’s volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to host Stevens Institute of Technology, 3-1 on the opening day of the Stevens Invitational at Canavan Arena.

Cleo Shannon totaled 17 kills for the Ducks who improve to 18-6 overall. Anne Beckemeyer recorded nine kills and three block assists for the Cougars who fall to 14-9 overall.

After dropping the first two sets by 25-14 and 25-22 scores, the Cougars broke through with a 25-20 set three victory. In that set, Kean held a slim 11-9 advantage, before Morgan Hall served for six straight points to push the Cougars lead to 19-9. Stevens made a furious comeback and cut the lead down to three at 23-20, before an Aubre Adams kill and a ball handing error sealed the set victory. Stevens captured set four and the match with a .283 hitting percentage.

Hall and Ashley Smith both tallied five kills apiece, while Adams posted four kills. Kylie Brua recorded a double-double with 30 assists and 11 digs. On defense, Sian Seeger collected 12 and Madi DeMartini posted 11.

Head Coach Don Perkins and the Cougars return to Hoboken tomorrow for matches with #14 Wesleyan (Conn.) at 10:00 am and #6 NYU at 4:00 p.m.
