Rylan Barnes was introduced to championship-level football at an early age.

And now, as a senior for West Hancock, Barnes is part of one of the most productive four-year stretches for any player at any level in the state.

Barnes and his Eagle teammates will go for a third state championship in four years against rival Grundy Center inside the UNI-Dome in the Class A final. West Hancock topped Grundy Center to win the 2021 and 2019 crowns, falling to the same team in the quarterfinals in 2020.

During that time, Barnes, who earlier this season accepted a preferred walk-on offer from Iowa State University, and the Eagles have gone an incredible 47-2. He has played all over the field on offense, defense and special teams.
