Graduation weekend’s impact on local business –

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Final Exercises will take place this weekend at the University of Virginia, and it’s not just a big weekend for the students. It’s big for Charlottesville businesses too.
Final Exercises draws thousands of people to the area, meaning wineries, hotels and restaurants are fully booked.
Brantley Ussery, the director of Marketing and PR for Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau, says he expects this weekend to be even more hectic since graduation ceremonies are back to normal.
Out of all business impacts, Ussery says the hotels receive the biggest payout.
“It’s just a huge weekend here like I said, one of if not the biggest weekends that our hotels will see in terms of what they can charge,” he said.
Ussery also encourages locals to be patient with the increased number of visitors this weekend.
