Giants Now: ManningCast wins Sports Emmy

ManningCast wins Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Series

Two-time Super Bowl MVP, Walter Payton Man of the Year, four-time Pro Bowler, his No. 10 jersey retired by both the Giants and Ole Miss.

Eli Manning has some amazing accolades on his resume, and now he can add one more to the growing list- Emmy award winner.

This week, Eli and Peyton Manning were awarded a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Series for the ManningCast, their alternative ‘Monday Night Football’ broadcast on ESPN2.

Just a few months ago, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced that ESPN had extended its contract with Peyton and Eli, meaning ‘Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli’ will continue through the 2024 NFL season.

That should not have come as a surprise to anyone. In its first season of existence, the ManningCast averaged 1.6 million viewers over nine games and eclipsed 1.9 million viewers on three separate occasions.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli and the partnership we’ve developed with Peyton, Eli and the team at Omaha Productions,” Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, ESPN and Sports Content, said back in February about the new deal for the ManningCast. “This new agreement allows us to deepen our relationship and explore original concepts to spread that magic to other sports and events. Ultimately, this will help grow our audience by providing fans with even more creative options that they crave.”

In addition to the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Series, both Eli and Peyton were individually nominated for awards, as well. However, the awards went to other on-air personalities.

Eli Manning was nominated for “Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent” but the honor went to ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

Peyton Manning was nominated for “Outstanding Personality/Sports Event Analyst” which ended up going to NBC’s Cris Collinsworth.
