The test consists of 60 questions that have you rate different work activities using a scale of “strongly dislike” to “strongly like.” The results include two sections. One is a “Current Job Zone,” where you look at the opportunities that align with your current experience. The other is a “Future Job Zone” that highlights the amount of education and experience you’ll need to achieve the dream job you want.

Myers-Briggs career test

The Myers-Briggs test is considered one of the best career tests. It’s certainly one of the most widely known. This psychological assessment has you fill out an inventory about yourself. Based on Jungian theory, it’s believed that there are 16 personality types. During the assessment, people will describe themselves by answering the questions. The results assign the person with a four-letter code that represents their personality type.

Once you have your personality “code,” you will also see the associated career paths and a list of occupations that are popular for that personality type.

This test is unique in that it shows pictures instead of asking questions. The pictures depict people in different types of work settings. You select which of the pictures are appealing, and it will match you with the type of work setting that would be ideal for you. The test is brief, and you can complete it in about five to 10 minutes.
