
Career Highs Aplenty, but Volleyball falls 3-2 to Robert Morris after winning first 2 sets

MOREHEAD, KY –The Morehead State volleyball team grabbed a two-set lead, but couldn’t hold on and fell in five sets (25-20, 25-18, 22-25, 20-25, 12-15) to the Robert Morris Colonials Friday at home at Johnson Arena.
The loss in the second match of the Comfort Inn-Vitational dropped Morehead State to 3-4 on the season.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-20. Morehead State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Eagles took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Morehead State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-18 victory in set number two. The Eagles led from the opening point on in the set to earn the victory. Morehead State opened up as much as a nine point lead at 13-4 before finishing off the set, totaling 15 kills in the set. The Eagles hit .393 over the course of the set. Morehead State’s front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking seven Robert Morris attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Morehead State couldn’t end the match in a sweep, dropping the third set to make its lead two sets to one in the match. The Eagles came up short by the score of 25-22. Robert Morris grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was tied up just once before the Colonials took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 4 | MSU then dropped its second straight set 25-20 to bring the match level at two sets apiece. The Eagles trailed by as many as seven points as Robert Morris grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 and Morehead State was never able to recover in a set that was knotted up just once before the Colonials took over the lead.
SET 5 | The Eagles lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way. MSU climbed to within 13-12 late but an ace by RMU finished off the come-from-behind win for the Colonials.
