South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall Director of Athletics and Recreation Bryan Felt ’97, MA ’05 has announced that four members of the department have earned promotions, and he has reorganized the department’s senior leadership and sport administration duties.

Receiving promotions are Loren Peterson to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations, Thomas Chen to Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations, Jaclyn Panepinto to Assistant Athletics Director for Business Affairs and Kaitlin Kelly to Associate Head Athletic Trainer.

“Congratulations to Loren, Thomas, Jaclyn and Kaitlin on well-earned promotions!” Felt said. “Their hard work and dedication to Seton Hall Athletics has afforded them these great opportunities to take on added responsibility and help make our department better and give our student-athletes a first-class experience.”

Peterson joins Felt’s senior leadership team and is now responsible for overseeing overall management of the department’s budget operations encompassing financial reporting, long-term and capital planning, forecasting, internal controls, business operations systems, and contract administration. In addition to financial management responsibilities, Peterson oversees the department’s human resources and is sport administrator for the volleyball, men’s golf and women’s golf programs.

Prior to this new role, Peterson has had a variety of responsibilities within the department over a 20-plus year career at Seton Hall Athletics, most recently as the Associate Athletics Director for Business Affairs in charge of all business-related financial transactions.

Chen also joins the senior leadership team and is now responsible for all of the department’s external units, including communications, marketing, ticketing and the department’s corporate sponsorship partnership with Learfield.

Chen has been at Seton Hall since 2014, most recently holding the title of Associate Athletics Director for Digital Media and Communications, overseeing the department’s media relations, website, email communications and social media as well as the department’s broadcasting and creative services division, the Pirate Sports Network.

Panepinto moves into the business office after one year as an administrative assistant within the athletics department, assisting the senior leadership team with compliance, travel operations, development and business management. She is now charged with managing all of the department’s business transactions.

Kelly has been with the Pirates since September 2017, first as an assistant athletic trainer and then promoted to senior assistant athletic trainer. In addition to working closely with the men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and tennis teams, Kelly assists with ensuring that the training room operates under the guidance of sports medicine’s mission to provide the highest quality of evidenced based health care to Seton Hall University student-athletes.

In addition to the promotions, Felt reorganized the department’s sport administrative duties. Kathy Matta, who is the department’s Senior Associate Athletics Director for Recreational Services, has added sport administrator duties for men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Sean McCarthy, who is the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, is now the sport administrator for the tennis team. Roberto Sasso, who is the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and Leadership, is now the sport administrator for the men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Felt is also in the process of adding a Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development, who will be responsible for all athletics annual and capital fundraising within the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund, serve on the senior leadership team and have oversight of the softball program.
