Two from area earn All-Ohio honors in baseball

COLUMBUS — Two area baseball players were named All-Ohio for the 2022 season.

In Division II, Highland senior infielder Rider Minnick was honorable mention. He batted .381 with a .474 on-base percentage and a .529 slugging percentage. He scored 32 runs and drove in 25 runs while hitting nine doubles.

In Division III, Northmor junior infielder Maxton Lower was honorable mention as well. He hit .472 with 33 runs, 14 RBI, two triples, three home runs and 15 stolen bases. He posted a .594 on-base percentage and a .668 slugging percentage.

Marion Merchants 15U baseball squad makes two straight finals

MARION — The Marion Merchants 15U Blum squad made the championship game two weeks in a row, falling over the weekend to the Dublin Silver Sox in the finale at the Kenton Bring the Heat Tournament held June 3 to 5.

Prior to running out of gas in the fifth game of a brutal tournament, the Merchants beat  the top-seeded Dayton Classics, plus the Ohio Bison of Newark twice and fell in a tight game to the Marysville Mitts.
