A child’s love becomes man’s career

Read Time:2 Minute, 46 Second

Cris Cruz, a member of Artist Colony of Zanesville, has been drawing since he was a child. He specializes in cartoons and illustrations.

ZANESVILLE – He turned what he loved as a child into a career as an adult.

“When I was a kid,” recalled Cris Cruz, “I’d draw when I was bored and draw when I’d go to my dad’s job. I was always drawing. And people were always praising me on my artwork, so I figured I had some sort of talent.

“I’ve always wanted to be an artist,” he added. “I would picture working for Disney all the time. I even mailed my artwork, sketches, paintings to Disney as a kid. I wrote them a letter saying they didn’t have to pay me, that I’d work for free. They sent it all back with a letter saying, ‘Thank you. Please finish a degree in art and to reapply after that.”
